THE COASTAL EMPIRE WEIGHTLIFTING CLUB MEMBERS 12 YEAR-OLD KAIYA BRYANT BREAKS 3 NATIONAL RECORDS, 15 YEAR-OLD NIA WALKER BREAKS NATIONAL SNATCH RECORD AND 17 YEAR-OLD TAYON VEREEN EARNS ENTRY INTO FINALS.
Anaheim, CA, December 7-10, 2017 — Congratulations to PI/Coastal Empire Weightlifters and Coach Kerri Goodrich on their record breaking performance at the American Open Finals December 7-10, 2017 in Anaheim, CA.
Kaiya Bryant, at the age of 12 in the 13U/44kg division, was the youngest competitor in the Finals. Kaiya broke all 3 records in her division- snatching 56kg/123.2lbs, clean and jerking 70kg/154lbs to total 125kg and setting 3 new Youth USAW National records! Kaiya attends middle school at Savannah Classical Academy.
Nia Walker, 15 years old/69+kg division , broke the Youth National record in the snatch, lifting 84kg/185lbs. Nia is a 9th grade student at Sol C Johnson High School.
Tayon Vereen, a Junior at Sol C Johnson High School, 17 years old, lifting in the 105kg division with a 122kg/268.4lbs, 155kg/341lbs clean and jerk for a 277kg/609.4 total! Tayon improved his total by 20kg since the AO Series 3 competition in October that earned him his entry into the finals.s

Our lifters can only compete and train when their grades are good.
