Guayaquil, Ecuador, August 25 – 29— Youth Team USA comprised of 3 members of Performance Initative’s Coastal Empire Weightlifting Club selected back in July to represent the United States at the Youth Pan American Games took home: Gold, Silver and Bronze and one American National record!
Kaiya Bryant, 3-time Youth National Champion and member of 2019 Youth World Team USA, in 49kg weight class, competed on Sunday. She snatched 66kg for a silver and clean/jerked 88kg earning her a gold in CJ, Gold overall and a new american record in clean & jerk. Kaiya,14, attends STEM Academy at Bartlett in Savannah.
Kye Bryant, brother of Kaiya and a 2018 Youth National Champion, a 11th grade student at Jenkins High School, division (55 kg) snatched 93 kg (bronze medal), clean and jerk 113 kg (silver medal) for a personal record total of 206 kg winning overall bronze.
“It’s amazing to see our next generation of youth like Kaiya, Kye, and Nia excelling on the heels of sending several of our youth to their first year of college,” exclaimed their coach, Kerri Goodrich
A veteran of the Youth Pan America Games, Nia Walker in the 81+kg division lifted her way to silver overall, silver snatch of 88kg, and silver clean/jerk with 117kg. Walker set personal records on her overall total of 205kg and both her lifts individually. Nia was also a member of the 2018 USA Youth Pan Am Team. Nia attends Johnson High School in Savannah currently in the 10th grade.
Goodrich, stated “As the school year starts these three athletes will have a lot to be proud of and we’re excited to have our up-and-comping champions aspiring to be like them. Our programs inspire youth from elementary school age through college. We help with free tutoring, a Kids Cafe, providing dinner and a facility that helps create healthier hearts, minds and bodies.”

Performance Initiatives (PI), Inc, strengthens hearts, minds and bodies of over 140 children annually through it’s after school programs and partners with Second Harvest providing dinner at the Kid’s Cafe. PI is home to Coastal Empire Weightlifting Club (CEWC) and Savannah CrossFit and provides classes for both adults and children. CEWC is a United States Amateur Weightlifting (USAW) Athlete Training Center.
